KARYN SHIMMONS - Coaching Education Officer

Hi I am the Coaching Education Officer and have been involved in Netball for many years.  I began playing netball while at Idsall School, where I was asked to join a teachers team ‘Wrekin Ladies’.

I represented the County at U14, U16, U18, U21 and Senior levels, and was successfully chosen to play for the West Midlands squad.  During my time in the County Squads I Captained the U21 and Senior sides. I was a member of Star, but due to a shoulder injury I had to retire from playing 6 years ago.  I dusted off my trainers and played this summer for Tibberton Dynamos.  What a brilliant team to play for a great group of girls.

I began coaching the Under 11’s section with June Byrne in 2006 as the assistant coach, I have now progressed onto Lead Coach of the U11’s, and Assistant Coach to the U14’s. I have just obtained with a lot of hard work my Level 2 Coaching Award.

During the summer months my husband and I run the ‘Secal Laser Summer Netball League’ with the help of our daughter Danielle.

I wish to thank Tibberton Netball Club for the opportunity to put something back into netball.  It is a wonderful club to be part of.  Thank You so much.
