Tibberton
Netball Club is delighted to announce that at the England Netball Goalden Globe
Awards Ceremony June Byrne was presented with a Long Service Award.
This
award is presented to volunteers who have made a notable contribution to the
development of netball over a significant period of time. England Netball long
Service Awards recognize the contribution of volunteers who have used their invaluable
experience to give outstanding service willingly and selflessly for over 25
years.
June
became involved in Shropshire netball 30 years ago in 1978. She began by
coaching in Tibberton Junior School and quickly garnered enough interest to
form 2 teams and arrange local fixtures. From this, she started Tibberton Netball
Club in 1989. A notable success story from this time is the U14
accomplishments, winning the Shropshire Youth Club tournament, followed by
another win at the West Midlands Tournament and finishing in 8th
position in the National Youth Championship.
Twenty
years on from June’s founding of the club, Tibberton is the largest and most
successful club in Shropshire. She has developed a volunteer workforce, is
volunteer coordinator for the club and drove their committee forward in march
2008, enabling the club to achieve Gold CAPS. She was also founder of the
Netball Development Group, sits as Chairwoman on the County Association and has her Level 2 coaching award, her beginner Umpire award and is also a England
Netball Tutor for the High 5 game.
Without
June Shropshire netball would not be where it is today.
