Executives from England Netball were present at the first West Midlands awards ceremony held in Walsall.
Tina Owen from Shrewsbury Netball Club picked up the Rose award for her sterling work forming and writing the rules for the first ever wheelchair netball club in the Country. She raised over £17,000 from various sources to purchase specialised sports chairs, pay for weekly use of sports facilities and ongoing funds to ensure the sustainability of the club. On a regional and national level Tina made, interpreted and adapted EN rules and regulations for Wheelchair netball by giving up her time to explore other sports that cater for those with disabilities.
Tibberton Netball Club were awarded their Gold Cap, this is an England Netball clubmark accreditation. Nicolette Byrne and Zoey Sermon have spent the last 3 years working together to pool all the information required to attain this prestigious award. Only four other clubs in the West Midlands have gained this award. The Club had already received earlier in the year the Nextgen netball award for outstanding contribution to developing and supporting their volunteers.
It was not surprising when the young volunteer of the year award went to Rachel Massie from Tibberton N.C. She is off to university this year leaving a hugh gap at the club after her commitment and dedicated work for the volunteer workforce. Rachel’s passion, drive and enthusiasm for all dimensions of netball and her success and achievements within the field are what makes her unique and deserving of this award.
Caroline Ritchie Morgan Tibberton’s senior Elite coach won Coach of the year for her contribution in coaching the West Midlands Warrior Squad who won the Regional Leagues title.
Caroline has shown amazing commitment and enthusiasm to netball in the West Midlands over the last 12 months. Caroline is an inspirational coach. She takes time and effort to learn how to get the best out of her players and furthermore, Caroline is able to create an environment were players demand the best from themselves and each other.
