Since
2003 Tibberton Netball Club has been working towards the Club Action Planning
Scheme (CAPS) scheme, an award structure for all netball clubs developed by
England Netball. The aims of the scheme is to improve the standards in Netball
clubs around the UK by focusing on four key areas that impact Netball clubs:
- Duty
of Care and Child Protection
- Coaching
and Competition
- Club
Management / Administration
- Sports
Equity and Ethics
CAPS
offers Bronze, Silver and Gold levels of achievement, highlighting further
development work whilst ensuring that all clubs have the chance to shine.
In
August 2003 the Club was award the SILVER CAPS award, the first netball club in
the county to do so.
Since
then we have been collating information, producing a club handbook, working on
policies and procedures and club members have attended coaching, umpiring and
duty of care courses in order to fulfil the criteria of the GOLD award.
We
were awarded the GOLD CAPS this year, again the first Club in the County, and
one of only 5 in the West Midlands. This is a great achievement for Tibberton
Netball Club.
This
means we are recognised as having a safe, effective and child friendly
environment for children and young people.
